Things to do in Bouddi National Park
Guide updated
Bouddi is a compact coastal park with a few high-intent experiences: walk-in Maitland Bay, drive-in Putty Beach, the Bouddi Coastal Walk, headland lookouts and three official campgrounds. Use this list to pick a primary goal, then verify conditions on NSW National Parks — Bouddi.

Decision rules before you stack stops
One primary experience
Pick Maitland Bay or Putty Beach or a Coastal Walk section as the hero. Stacking all three on a first half-day is how groups melt down.
Verify fees and alerts
Vehicle entry, track status and fire danger change. Use NSW National Parks and Park’nPay — this site is not a live fee table.
Ocean and cliff honesty
Swimming is not guaranteed safe. Cliffs are unfenced. Rock platforms and wreck curiosity are optional and conditions-dependent.
Core experiences
Maitland Bay beach day
Icon beach · steep access · quieter than Putty
Walk-in crescent beach with rainforest-backed cliffs — the park’s emotional centrepiece. Plan the climb out honestly.
Bouddi Coastal Walk
Grade 3 · sectionable · ~8–8.5 km one-way
Flagship headland walk Putty Beach to MacMasters Beach. Section it or plan a car shuffle — do not force a full one-way on impulse.
Putty Beach day-use & swimming
Drive-in · family default · busy peaks
Drive-in beach hub for families and first visits. Also the practical northern start for the Coastal Walk and the easiest official campground base.
Box Head & Bullimah vistas
Headlands · views · cliff safety
Headland and spur country for cliff drama and ocean horizons — strong photography light when wind behaves.
Lookouts (Gerrin Point & more)
Easy lookouts · whale season · low commitment
Short coastal panoramas without a full Coastal Walk commitment. Whale-season scanning from safe formed lookouts.
Official camping overnight
NPWS booking only · never affiliated here
Putty, Little and Tallow Beach campgrounds — book only via NSW National Parks. Overnight vehicle camping outside designated sites is prohibited.
Picnics at Mount Bouddi / Dingeldei
Picnic hub · family half-day
Plan B when beach car parks are full — tables, shorter walks and a calmer reset between coastal efforts.
Gateway villages & food
Outside the park · services & stays
Killcare, MacMasters Beach, Terrigal and Avoca for coffee, dinner and beds after park time — commercial stays, not park camping.
Full walk comparison and effort filters: Walks hub.
