Little Beach access & campground approaches
Guide updated · verify track status, grades and fees on NSW National Parks
Little Beach is a more secluded walk-in beach and official campground option. Book camping only through NSW National Parks. Day visitors should treat access as a short but real walk with gear and tide awareness.
- Short walk-in feel [VERIFY]
- Allow extra for packs if camping
- Short walk-in to beach / campground [VERIFY]
- Effort: moderate
- Best for: Secluded beach overnight, quieter than Putty

Where you start
Signed Little Beach access
Confirm trailhead parking and walk-in distance on the official Little Beach campground / park pages. Overnight stays require a booking — no walk-up assumptions. Seclusion is the product; drive-in Putty ease is not.
How to get there
- Follow official directions to Little Beach access parking on NSW National Parks pages.
- If camping, pack for a walk-in: water plan, food storage, and weather layers.
- Do not assume drive-in Putty-level facilities or last-minute sites.
- Pay vehicle entry where it applies in addition to camping fees [VERIFY both].
- Screenshot booking confirmation and facilities notes before signal drops.
How to do it (step by step)
- Verify booking, facilities and fire rules before you leave home.
- Walk in on the signed route only — no shortcutting through vegetation.
- Respect other campers and leave no trace.
- Day visitors: keep noise and group size civil; this is a quieter beach for a reason.
- If connecting to the Coastal Walk, protect return daylight with pack weight honesty.
- On departure day, leave time for the walk-out with packs — do not schedule a tight ferry of traffic stress.
Who Little Beach is for
Choose Little Beach when you want quieter sand and a more remote feel than Putty — and you are willing to pay for it with a walk-in and (if overnight) a real NPWS booking.
It is not the right first Bouddi night if your group needs drive-in toilets-at-the-car logistics. Putty campground is the easier official base.
Day visitors are welcome where rules allow — keep it civil and short of a crowd transplant from a city beach.
Seclusion has a price
Little Beach trades drive-in ease for quieter sand and a more remote feel. That trade only works if you book through NSW National Parks and pack for walk-in reality.
Day visitors are welcome where rules allow — keep it civil. Overnight vehicle camping outside designated campgrounds is prohibited.
If the walk-in already feels hard with day packs, overnight packs will feel harder. Adjust expectations before you commit.
Camping rules that never bend
Official campground only. No walk-up assumptions in peak season. This independent guide never takes commission on NPWS camping bookings.
Read the live campground page for facilities, vehicle rules and fire bans for your dates. Quiet hours and food storage are neighbour issues.
Park entry fees can be separate from camping fees where they apply — budget both and verify both.
Walk-in packing honesty
Water plan, weather layers, headlamp if evenings stretch, rubbish strategy, and food that does not require fantasy facilities. Soft “we’ll wing it” packing fails faster on walk-in beaches.
If you hope to walk Coastal Walk sections from camp, leave pack weight and daylight for the return. Summit-or-bust energy is the wrong mindset here.
Pairing with the Coastal Walk
Strong pairs: overnight at Little Beach + one honest coastal section in cool hours. Weak pairs: late walk-in + long one-way + early checkout with no water margin.
Tallow Beach is a related quieter option — compare official pages rather than assuming they are interchangeable.
Extra tips
- Book well ahead for school holidays and fine summer weekends.
- Pair with Coastal Walk sections only if your overnight plan still works with pack weight.
- Park entry fees can be additional to camping fees where they apply — verify official pages.
- Tallow Beach is a related quieter option — compare official campground pages before you book.
- Day visitors: treat this like a privilege beach, not a party venue.
